Geek is Chic Card

Hello, Friends!! Design Team Member, Mitsyan Wright, here to bring you more IAR inspiration!!
Recently, I attempted to clean my craft room and got distracted. Apparently, I have far too much stuff that I often forget what amazing crafty treasures I already have. During my "clean up time", I came across an old stamp of a little girl with glasses on and found myself coloring for the rest of the day... Oops!! Where did the time go?! Oh well, there went cleaning!! LOL

I know this has happened to me more than a few times before. Can anyone else relate?

But then she just inspired me to create a card...

You see, I am a self-proclaimed nerd. I love to read (about any and everything), I love watching the history channel and NatGeo, I love MATH for heaven sakes!!

And this little nerdy girl reminds me that being nerdy, geeky, brainy, or just plain smart, is OK. I have lots of friends that are also nerd (self-proclaimed or otherwise) and they are all amazing women! Witty & funny and know how to have a great time! So for those brainiac gals out there, this one is for you!!

I Am Roses Supplies Used

Other Supplies Used
Cheeky Geeky Stamp (The Greeting Farm)
Owl Nerds Stamp Set (Pink and Main)
Big Shot (Sizzix)
Thin Fish Tail Banner Dies (Pink and Main)
Mega Runner (Xyron)
VersaFine Onyx Black (Imagine Craft/ Tsukineko)
Clean Color Real Brush Markers (Zig/ Kuretake)
Mixed Media Paper (Strathmore)
110 lb White Card Stock (Recollections)
Green Card Stock (Core'dinations)
CutterBee Scissors (EK Success)
Mermaid Crinkle Ribbon

I first, stamped my image with Versfine Onyx Black ink onto Strathmore Mixed Media Paper. Then, with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers & a water brush, I colored her in.

Then, using my super sharp CutterBee Scissors, I hand cut my image out.

I created an A2 (4.5" x 5.5") sized card base from 110lb white cardstock and matted it with striped paper from the Pebbles Girl Squad paper pad.

I cut a banner from the pink polka-dot paper (also in the paper pad) using a Pink and Main's Fish Tail Banner Die. Then layered onto my card front.

I die cut a doily from more white cardstock using a Tim Holtz's Doily Die. Then layered that on top of the banner with liquid glue.

Now, here's where all the beautiful flowers come into play. I always start from the bottom up. like so...

I die cut stemmed leaves/ vines from mossy green cardstock using dies from Tim Holtz's Garden Greens Die set and tucked them around the doily.

I added the Medium Pink Edge on Soft Green Roses Leaves, then I adhered my little girl in the center of the doily using foam adhesive.

Next, I added the White Mulberry Small May Roses.

I tucked the Pink Small Summer Cottage Paper Flowers between the pink leaves and white roses.

Then, attached a bow made from Crinkle Ribbon.

I attached a large Peony Flower- Pale Pink to the center of it all!! Absolutely gorgeous!!

Lastly, I stamped out the words Geek is Chic onto white cardstock and hand-cut it out with a tiny border around the words and attached it and rhinestone flowers to the bottom of the banner.

And here is the finished card...

I hope you enjoyed today's project and it inspires you to create something beautiful!!

Here's to wishing all my fellow nerdy/ geeky friends an amazing day!

Snowy the Penguin Delivering Presents

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, is my youngest niece's birthday and she is turning 16 years old. I seriously cannot believe it!! She's still a kid at heart, and that makes me smile because all the things she wants for her birthday are things that I could see living happily in my home too, LOL! I always love getting her birthday list because she is always specific and knows what she wants. :) One of the things on the list that made my crafty heart melt was "cans of spray paint and a blank wall". I seriously wish I could make that happen!!

I decided to make her a birthday card using the beautiful flowers from I Am Roses with Conie Fong's Snowy Delivering Presents. I absolutely LOVE this happy, adorable penguin! And I love that you can make it girly or boyish depending on your colors. Her favorite colors are mint/teal and purple so I stuck to that color scheme.

 Copics:
Black: C5, C7, C8, C10
Orange: YR02, YR04, YR07
Teal: BG10, BG13, BG15, BG78

The cute paper is from Pink and Main My Heart 6x6 Paper Pad. I used a scallop circle die from My Favorite Things to frame the image. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes. I also raised the cute penguin on foam tape for extra dimension.

Don't forget you still have until SEPTEMBER 8th to enter the current I Am Roses Challenge!! You must use at least 3 products from I Am Roses on your entry. The best part is that there are 4 prizes up for grabs!! Don't miss out on your chance to win these stunning paper flowers!

Hello Friend Card

Hi, Friends! Design Team Member, Mitsyana, here with another adorable card for I Am Roses.
Well, summer is coming to an end and fall will be here soon! I'm totally excited about this, probably more than I should be, but I'm counting down the days! Counting down the days till cooler weather and changing colors.

The turning colors of fall leaves are what inspired my project for today. I love the warm glow of all the yellows, oranges, reds, and browns! It just makes me feel like rolling around in a pile of leaves and throwing them in the air like confetti!!

For this card, I used the following I Am Roses products...

To make this card, I cut my white 110 lb cardstock to create a  5.5"x 5.5" card base.

I used patterned corrugated cardstock and gold embossed cardstock from DCWV to create nested mats. Then layered and attached them to my card front using my Xyron Mega Runner.

I stamped this super cute House Mouse image onto mixed media paper and colored it using Derwent Inktense Color Pencils. Then cut out the colored image using a Pink and Main's Stitched Circle Die.

I added it to the card front then trimmed the bottom with a flower lace.

Then surrounded the image with gorgeous I Am Roses Flowers. I inked around the center od the daisies with Tim Holtz' Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide Ink. Then attached all my flowers using tiny amounts of quick-grip glue.

Lastly, I die cut my sentiment using Diamond Press' Hello Friend Die from Black cardstock, then attached it to the card.

I can't get enough of these stems!! Besides having gorgeous flowers, almost all I am Roses' flowers have a 2"-3" wired stem! And not just their flowers... their leaves too!! Which make for the cutest Curly-Q's.

I love how all these textures and warm colors came together. And right now, I'm really envious of the mouse sunbathing on the sunflower. For now, I'll have to wait It's still scorching over 100 degrees down here and nowhere near relaxing lounging weather!

I hope you enjoyed my project for today!
Come back and see us soon!!

Gift boxes "Botanica" from Julia MITRA.

Hello there!
It's Julia here to inspire you with a noble forest charm.
This year my vacation was in the country and I often walked in the woods and was inspired by herbs and flowers, textures and aromas. So the idea of creating these gift boxes called "Botanica" was born.

I like botanical themes and natural decor. So I used themed scrapbook paper, and various decor to her: die-cuts, cutting, flair buttons, sheets for painting from the collection "Botany Summer" (Fabrika Decoru), as well as many natural elements.

In this project I used a lot of stunning flowers:

To give the colors a little forest of negligence and naturalness, I painted parts of the flowers with Magic paints from Fabrika Decoru.

I chose the colors: Natural Siena, Burnt Umber, Olive, Green Earth and a little of Golden Sand.

In the layers you may notice roundels of natural cork, and even sprigs of colored chipboard.

Beautiful flowers compliment the charm of the Nature!

The second box is similar to the first and has the same arrangement of elements and decor.

On the background of the project and in layers you can see a lot of die cuts - Cherry Lynn French Pastry, MFT leaves, AgiArt spring twig and some foliage dies.

Die cuts, like many paper elements, I toned slightly with Distress Vintage Photo by Ranger.

Another beautiful element are butterflies!

The final touch is my favorite splashing technique using liquid drops "Chocolate" and "Beige" from Fabrika Decoru!

How do you pack your presents?
I am sure that family and friends will like the beautiful package no less than the gift itself  (lol).

Thanks for watching!
I'd like to remind you about our August IAR Challenge. A winner and a TOP 3 will get wonderful prizes from IAR!!

With ♥, Julia)
